1. Cancellation of entry


1.1 The DURBIE DASH does not make provision for refunds. Substitutions will be accepted.
1.2 The DURBIE DASH will only consider a refund of 80% of the entry fee if a participant can
provide proof of a positive Covid-19 test not older than 72 hours.
1.3 The following options will apply if the event is cancelled due to Covid-19 Regulations &
restrictions


• Paid entrants in the event will be able to transfer their entry fee to the next opportunity
when the DURBIE DASH will be presented, or
• Paid entrants in the event will be able to donate their entry fee to the Durbanville High
School as a donation, or
• Paid entrants will be refunded 80% of their respective entry fees in the event


2. Force Majeure
The events will proceed regardless of bad weather and will only be cancelled, re-routed or stopped for reasons of safety. The organisers reserve the right to cancel the event or parts of the event resulting from any act of God including extreme weather conditions, strike, war, riots, fire, flooding, legislation, insurrection, sanctions beyond reasonable control of the organisers of The Durbie Dash (any such event called “force majeure”).


In such cases, any consequences with regards refunds or rescheduling will be issued at the
discretion of the event organizers.


3. All photographic or video material of participants made by the organizers or their assignees during any activity is deemed to be part of the DURBIE DASH, shall be free for use by the organizers in any matter relating to the event at any time in the present or future.


4. The cycling events, except for the 12km MTB funride, are all sanctioned by Cycling South Africa (CSA) and all cycling participants, who are not a member of Cycling SA, will be required to purchase a day license.


5. E-bikes are only allowed in events with E-Bike categories as stated. (Minimum age is 19 years)


6. Helmets are compulsory for all cycling events.


7. The MTB event will make use of the existing permanent RaceTec bike boards. If participants do not own such a board already, then these boards can be purchased online and will be prepacked and linked to the riders, complete with a label, cable ties, event sticker and seeding sticker. The price is R140 Vat included.


8. The Road Race Numbers will be supplied by Finish Time. Temporary Finish Time bike boards need to be purchased at R20 VAT included. The race pack will include a temporary race number, cable ties and pins, as required. Packed and labelled. The Racetec timing chip(transponder) will no longer be applicable.


9. Water scarcity is becoming an increasing threat because of climate change impacts and increasing water demand. The Organisers will do everything possible to conserve water during the event.

10. The Trail Run timing is managed by Finish Time. Race numbers will be issued at registration.

11. Participants must attend prize giving, or they will forfeit their prize(s). Also, please note to qualify for category prizes there must be more than 5 entrants within that specific category.

Waiver
All the participants in the event or as parent/guardian of a participant, agrees that they will
participate in the event entirely at their own risk and waive all claims as allowed by law against
Durbanville High School Governing Body, the Western Cape Educational Department, land owners, the Organisers, event service providers and any individual organiser or official, marshal, assistant or agent, the sponsors or any local authority or their employees (“Indemnified”) in respect of any  damages, harm or losses suffered at, during or as a consequence of the event, including but not limited to damage, harm or loss to property, or damage, harm or loss arising out of the death or illness or injury to any person or party. The Indemnified shall under no circumstances be liable for any indirect, special, consequential, or punitive damages whatsoever. Minors (u.18) must have the indemnity signed by their parent/ guardian who thereby indemnifies the Indemnified against all claims. Any person who enters someone else for the event warrants that he/she has been authorised to do so and so can legally bind the participant. All Personal Information will be processed as per our Privacy Policy

TRAIL RUN RULES

CONDITION OF ENTRY FOR THE TRAIL RUN EVENTS

Rules for The Durbie Dash

1. Every participant shall run carefully and with due regard to the safety of other runners and other trail users.

2. Every participant must comply with the instructions of a marshal, official and/or a traffic officer.

3. Every participant shall provide information requested by any marshal immediately.

4. All runners must at all times display his/her race number legibly in front on clothes.

5. Every runner shall identify him/herself and give his/her address on request to a marshal or any other participant requesting such information after a race incident.

6. Runners may not use a personal music system or a communication device whilst taking part in the event.

7. A participant shall not run with another person’s number or timing identification.

8. A participant shall not use foul or offensive language to his/her fellow runners or to any marshal.

10. A participant shall not dispose of any litter along the course except in refuse bins.

11. A participant may not start or attempt to start before his/her designated start.

12. A participant shall provide reasonable assistance to any other participant involved in an accident while participating in the event.

13. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

14. The winners will be judged as those who cross the finish line first, having completed the entire route, irrespective of time.

15. In case of dispute, the organisers reserve the right not to present any prizes.

16. Participant must attend award ceremonies. Prizes will not be mailed.

17. Further to rule 19, as this is a fun event, the organisers retain the right not to enter into a dispute of a competitive nature.

18. It is the participants responsibility to ensure they carry enough liquid on route, a windshield jacket and basic emergency equipment and emergency contact number.

19. In the event of a medical emergency, the organising bodies/authorities will use their discretion and follow procedures deemed necessary for evacuation and /or medical assistance thereof; for the account of the injured party.
